An introduction to Ahwaz oil field
The Ahwaz oil field is a sinusoidal anticline and nearly symmetrical alongside the Northwest-Southeast direction and is situated underneath part of the city of Ahwaz in the northern Dezful area. The Ahwaz oilfield is comprised of two main reservoirs - Asmari and Bangestan.
The Ahwaz oil field is one of the largest oilfields in the world. The oil field was put into production in the 1970s. In spite of its production rate fluctuations in the past four decades and its ongoing key production challenge, it is considered amongst the most important fields of the National Iranian South Oil Company.
This research and technological study is aimed to propose some problem-solving methods for production processes optimization and enhanced oil recovery of two reservoirs of Ahwaz oil field. Research Institute of Petroleum Industry and the National Iranian South Oil Company are supposed to cooperate closely for 10 years as partners in this project.
